Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer. It’s such a bummer because summer isn’t over yet, but everyone is ready for pumpkin spice lattes.
Usually, we celebrate Labor Day with family and friends eating hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and drinking beer. You can still have a great time with everyone while staying in Keto though!
Here are my tips for having a keto-approved Labor Day.
What’s on the menu?
Like dining out, you want to make sure you know what is on the menu for whatever grill out you’ll be at. If you know there will be things like hamburgers and hotdogs then you know you can eat – just hold the bun. There might be some non-keto sides like corn or potato salad, but there might be deviled eggs or even a plain salad. Knowing what you can and can’t eat will help you be prepared when eating somewhere new.
Eat or pack a snack
If you aren’t sure what is on the menu always eat a keto snack beforehand. Nuts, boiled eggs, cheese, and deli meat are easy things to quickly eat. You can even bring some of these things with you and eat them during the party! This is not weird at all. Some people have different diets that it’s hard to have something for everyone. No one will judge you.
Bring a keto-approved dish
If you are going to someone’s house for a party, ask if you can bring anything! Try to find a keto appetizer that you know you won’t mind eating the entire party if you have to! This is a great way to know what you are eating and to be a good guest.
Go for company
Food is so important in our culture, but when you start seeing food as the fuel you stop using food as a social tool. You can go to this event, not eat any food, and still have a good time! Go for the company and enjoy yourself! You don’t have to worry about the food.
Have a happy Labor Day! Have a great long weekend and enjoy the time with family and friends!
